Flat-screen TVs are some of the most important aspects of a home entertainment system today. With TVs getting much larger, thinner, and more sophisticated, it is getting more challenging to move flat-screen televisions for a move. At US Direct Movers, we are professionals when it comes to packing flat-screen televisions. We want to spread some of the tips and tricks we have picked up in our years of service so that you can pack up your TV and feel secure in the process of moving it.
Finding The Right Box
The first step in packing a flat-screen TV is finding the correct box. Depending on the size of your TV, you will either need a medium or large-sized box. It can often be easier if you keep the package for your television. If you are buying a TV before you move, hold onto the box and the foam packing components for housing the TV. Once you have the right-sized box, you will want to make sure that it has a lid that covers the complete box top. The last thing you would want is for the package to open up and send your television crashing to the ground.
If you don’t have the original box, there are a few things that you should keep in mind when finding or buying one. Make sure that the package is slightly larger than your TV. You do not want the box to be too big as it will make the TV more susceptible to movement and possible breakage. The package should also be made of sturdy cardboard free of tears or rips.
Packing The TV
Once you have the right-sized box, it is time to start packing up your television. You will want to begin by placing some soft padding on the bottom of the box. This can be in blankets, towels, or even old clothes. The padding will help to cushion the TV and keep it from moving around too much during the move.
After placing the padding in the bottom of the box, it is time to start packing up the television itself. Start by removing any cords or cables that are attached to the TV. These can be wrapped up and placed in a separate bag, so they do not get tangled up during the move. Once the cords are removed, you will want to wrap the TV in a soft blanket or towels. This will help to protect the screen from getting scratched or cracked during the move.
After the TV is wrapped, you will want to place it gently in the box. Make sure that it is placed in the center of the box and that it is not touching any of the sides. Once the TV is in the box, you can add more padding around it to help keep it secure. This can be more towels, blankets, or even packing peanuts.
Once the television is packed up, you can close the box and secure it with packing tape. Be sure to use heavy-duty packing tape so that the box does not come open during the move. You will also want to label the box as “Fragile” so that movers will know to handle it with care.
Moving The TV
Once the television is packed up, you will want to make sure that it is loaded into the moving truck carefully. You will want to place the box in an upright position so that it does not tip over during the move. You will also want to ensure that the package is secured in the truck so that it does not move around during transport.
When you reach your destination, you will want to unpack the television carefully. Start by removing any padding that is surrounding the TV. You will then want to remove the TV from the box and set it up in its new location. Once the TV is set up, you can then reconnect any cords or cables that were detached during the packing process.
By following these simple steps, you can pack up your flat-screen TV and rest assured knowing that it will arrive at your new home safely and in one piece.
