How to Prepare For Your Moving Day

If you are preparing for a move, you are likely working hard to plan so that you can have a stress-free moving day.   Even with all the preparation in the world, your moving day can be one of your move’s busiest and most stressful portions. At US  Direct Movers, we want to make sure your move is as seamless as possible.

Tips to help you through your moving day:

  • Schedule your movers well in advance: You will want to contact potential movers and schedule them for your moving day well in advance. Planning ahead ensures you have the help that you need when you need it.
  • Pack an essentials box: This should be a box of items that you will need immediately upon arriving at your new home. Include items such as toiletries, snacks, a change of clothes, and any medications you may need. Packing an overnight style bag is an excellent way to save you stress unpacking.
  • Label your boxes: Be sure to label all of your boxes with their contents and the room they should be placed in. Labeling will save you time and frustration on moving day.
  • Disassemble furniture: Take the time to disassemble any furniture that needs to be taken apart. Disassembly will make it much easier for the movers to transport and will help to prevent any damage.
  • Prepare your pets: If you have pets, be sure to make arrangements for them on moving day. This may mean boarding a pet and taking them to a friend’s house.
  • Don’t forget to hydrate: Even if you aren’t going to be the one moving your things, it can be easy to forget even your basic human needs when you get busy. Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated.
  • Keep cleaning supplies out: A final clean of your old home will likely be needed once all of your things have been moved out. Keep a few cleaning supplies on hand so that you can quickly tidy up before handing over the keys.
  • Be prepared to complete one last walkthrough after the truck is packed: There are many people that head over to their new home to unpack their personal vehicles as the movers are finishing the last few boxes or members of the household that don’t do a final walkthrough. Make sure every household member is on hand to do the final walkthrough so that nothing gets left.

By following our suggestions, you can help to ensure that your moving day is as smooth and stress-free as possible. However, even with the best preparations, things can still go wrong.
